This documentary was shot during the days of the official opening of the 54. Biennale Arte and produced for Babel/Sky. It presents a selection of “Extra Biennial” Pavilions which, compared to Europe and the US, represent nations that are ‘new’ to the contemporary art world. This was a unique opportunity to familiarise the public with the works of artists originating from Ecuador, Chile, Venezuela, Turkey, Ukraine, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Albania and Morocco. The documentary examines the Egyptian Pavilion in depth. It celebrated Ahmed Basiony, artist and activist who found himself on the covers of newspapers with his photographs of the Tarhir revolt in Cairo, which also caused his death in January 2011.
